UniTip ENDO Applicator
🔬 What it is
The UNITIP ENDO Applicator brings the easy handling and effective hemostatic effect of STARSIL HEMOSTAT® to endoscopic intervention specialists. For more than a decade surgeons and physicians from all disciplines rely on the CE-marked class III medical device STARSIL HEMOSTAT® for fast and safe hemostasis. The UNITIP ENDO Applicator can be used during endoscopic interventions to achieve rapid hemostasis for profuse and diffuse bleeding — alone or in combination with conventional techniques such as clips or sutures.
THE UNITIP ENDO APPLICATOR WORKS WITH THE CO2 SOURCE OF YOUR ENDOSCOPIC SYSTEM. THERE IS NO NEED FOR AN EXTRA PRESSURE DEVICE.
The constant CO₂ flow minimizes the risk of unwanted clotting or clumping of the hemostatic powder throughout the entire procedure. It ensures controlled and precise application of STARSIL HEMOSTAT® and allows for rinsing with sterile water whenever needed, as well as reapplication of the hemostatic powder as often as necessary.
The UNITIP ENDO Applicator is part of the Hemostat Medical GmbH product portfolio, developed to enable a fast and effective option for achieving hemostasis in endoscopic interventions in the lower and upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract and is used for a large variety of procedures and indications.
⚙️ How it works

🏥 Surgical Applications
The UNITIP ENDO Applicator can be used in combination with traditional methods when necessary or to substitute traditional methods such as sutures, clips, banding, or coagulation therapy, especially in diffuse bleeding situations where mechanical methods (clips/sutures) are not effective.
Difficult anatomic situation/ position
If a clip or other devices cannot be applicated due to e.g. distal bulb, curves in the colon.
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
Endoscopoic submucosal dissection (ESD)
Can be used for diffuse oozing bleeding or diffuse capillary bleeding after lesion removal.
May substitute clipping when the lesion is large, friable, or difficult to grasp with a clip.
Post-polypectomy bleeding (PPB)
Effective in bleeding (like Typ 1b – Typ 2a/b) where clips or coagulation might not be feasible.
Diverticular bleeding
Adjunct to clipping when the vessel is hard to reach. Can replace thermal therapy when
heat-based treatment may increase perforation risk.
Post-endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) bleeding
To control diffuse bleeding from the resection bed. Useful for diffuse bleeding where
mechanical methods (clips/sutures) are not effective.
Hemorrhagic colitis (IBD-associated bleeding)
Provides non-contact hemostasis, reducing trauma to inflamed mucosa.
Post-endoscopic balloon dilation bleeding
Rapidly controls diffuse oozing bleeding. Can reduce reliance on invasive methods like
clips. Ideal for oozing from microvascular injury where thermal coagulation is risky.
Peptic ulcer bleeding (gastric & duodenal)
Post-endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
Ideal for diffuse oozing bleeding when mechanical (clips) or thermal methods are difficult. As an add on second hemostatic method. Or for diffuse capillary bleeding where thermal coagulation could cause delayed perforation.
Anastomotic ulcer bleeding (post-surgical)
Effective for oozing bleeding where mechanical closure (sutures/clips) is not feasible.
May reduce need for repeat interventions.
FAQ UniTip ENDO Applicator
The UniTip ENDO Applicator System is designed for the use of STARSIL Hemostat ® during gastrointestinal surgery in the upper and lower digestive tract, e.g., the removal of polyps in the intestine.
The UniTip ENDO Applicator is connected to the CO2 unit in the operating room via a tube using a biopsy adapter. The bottle of STARSIL Hemostat ® is attached to the UniTip Applicator handpiece through the opening of the biopsy adapter. The applicator is inserted into the endoscope, and STARSIL Hemostat is ready to be applicated endoscopically.
The method for hemostasis depends on the specific treatment indication and must be performed appropriately by the surgeon. STARSIL Hemostat ® can be used as an adjunct in areas that are difficult to access with a clip. STARSIL Hemostat ® can be used to help control oozing bleeding that cannot be fully controlled with a clip. STARSIL Hemostat ® can contribute to improved wound healing and a reduction in postoperative complications.
